About The Position

The Assistant Director of Patient Care is responsible for overseeing the Post Coronary Care Unit at RWJBarnabas Health's New Brunswick campus. This role involves facilitating the safe and effective functioning of the unit, managing staff performance, and contributing to the professional growth of the team. The position requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to high-quality patient care.

Requirements

• BSN required.
• 1-3 years of relevant clinical practice experience.
• Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License.
• BLS and ACLS Certification.

Nice To Haves

• MSN preferred.
• National certification for clinical specialty preferred.
• At least 5 years of RN experience preferred.
• Previous leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the safe and effective functioning of the unit by interviewing and hiring unlicensed and licensed personnel in collaboration with the Nursing Director.
• Facilitates the orientation process for new employees, ensuring completion of unit-based orientation within an appropriate time frame.
• Continuously assesses patient care to evaluate staff knowledge and performance patterns.
• Counsels staff on identified areas for improvement and evaluates their performance in a timely manner.
• Plans and coordinates unit-based education programs based on identified needs.
• Considers staff participation in safety and quality initiatives when completing performance appraisals.
