About the position

The Athletic Trainer position at the Sheridan School District involves providing sports-related care for athletes in both school and community settings. The role requires daily on-campus presence for practices, including evenings and weekends as needed, to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes. Responsibilities include evaluating injuries, providing first aid, and collaborating with coaches and healthcare providers to facilitate appropriate care and return-to-play decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate sports-related care for athletes/patients in school/community settings.
  • Perform required administrative duties and maintain documentation of patient/athlete interactions.
  • Maintain records of athletic injuries treated and ensure proper follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with coaches and UAMS to ensure athletes are current on health supervision exams/pre-participation physical exams.
  • Keep the athletic training room neat, organized, and safe.
  • Assist with supply ordering and maintain organization and inventory of supplies/equipment.
  • Assist the sports medicine coordinator in budgeting related to the assigned school.
  • Coordinate with school and district personnel on emergency action plans and sports medicine-related decisions.
  • Ensure the school insurance claim form is completed and appropriately disseminated.
  • Educate and advocate for patients and athletes regarding their health and treatment plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, parents, coaches, and other healthcare providers.
  • Act as a liaison between athletes needing medical treatment/therapy services and families, coaches, and healthcare providers.
  • Participate and organize youth sports injury prevention initiatives as assigned.
  • Conduct athletic injury and youth sports safety in-services at assigned schools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Certified NATABOC.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of athletic training experience.
