About the position

The position involves assisting the senior legal team in providing legal advice on the interpretation of statutes, regulations, orders, contracts, and corporate policies. The role includes representing the company in judicial and regulatory forums as well as in commercial negotiations. The legal assessments and recommendations will cover a wide range of legal issues involving federal, state, county, and municipal statutes, regulations, and corporate policies. The position requires drafting and revising various legal documents, including contracts and regulatory documents, and ensuring compliance with applicable legal authority to minimize legal risks.

Responsibilities

  • Assists senior legal team in providing legal advice on statutes, regulations, orders, contracts, and corporate policies.
  • Represents the company in judicial and regulatory forums and commercial negotiations.
  • Provides legal assessments, interpretations, recommendations, and representation on legal issues.
  • Drafts and revises contracts, including power purchase agreements and engineering procurement contracts.
  • Represents the company in judicial, regulatory, or administrative proceedings.
  • Drafts and revises legal documents including contracts, pleadings, discovery, and regulatory documents.
  • Develops and presents courses of action to ensure compliance with legal authority.
  • Monitors and enforces compliance requirements for area of responsibility.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Qualification for membership with the State Bar of Nevada within one year of starting the position.
  • Minimum of one year experience in law firm, government, or corporate setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal drafting, including commercial contracts and legal memoranda.
  • Research and analysis techniques related to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess implications of proposed actions and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to work as a team member and manage multiple legal initiatives.
