About the position

In this role, you will function as an independent professional and service provider, supporting otolaryngology physicians during daily patient schedules. You will see patients referred from other providers and those needing hearing aid services. Your responsibilities will include determining the type and degree of hearing impairment and implementing habilitation and rehabilitation services. You will also perform and interpret electrophysiological testing, including intra-operative and sedated ABR at our surgical center, and bring new testing modalities and technology to enhance our standard of care.

Responsibilities

  • Function as an independent professional and service provider.
  • Support otolaryngology physicians during daily patient schedules.
  • See patients referred from other providers and patients needing hearing aids services.
  • Determine type and degree of hearing impairment and implement habilitation and rehabilitation services.
  • Schedule, administer and interpret a variety of tests such as air and bone conduction and speech reception and discrimination tests.
  • Evaluate test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational, and medical information obtained from patients, families, teachers, speech pathologists and other professionals.
  • Refer to physician as appropriate based on evaluations.
  • Schedule, administer and interpret electrophysiological testing, including intra-operative and sedated ABR at Duly surgical center.
  • Plan and implement prevention, habilitation or rehabilitation services including hearing aid selection, orientation, counseling, and programming.
  • Provide earmold fitting for purposes of hearing protection and water protection.
  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and calibration of all audiological equipment.
  • Order supplies and materials for departmental needs.
  • Act as a consultant to educational, medical, legal, and other professional groups.
  • Maintain continuing education requirement of 20 CEU hours every 2 years in compliance with the mandate for professional licensure.
  • Perform other projects and duties as related to department objectives.

Requirements

  • Au.D. or Master's Degree in Audiology required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-A) required if supervising student externs.
  • Current licensure from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation (or ability to obtain).
  • Possess a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (if Master's prepared) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for the purpose of student supervision.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical audiology experience preferred, but recent graduates will be considered.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize daily work.
  • Proficient in NOAH software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient keyboarding skills including speed and accuracy.
  • Previous experience with an EMR preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with audiological equipment and testing procedures.
