AUDIOVISUAL TECHNICIAN Texas Senate Media Services Austin, TX Job Details Temporary | Full-time $3,750 a month 18 hours ago Qualifications Computer science Post-production Mid-level Adobe Creative Suite Final Cut Pro Driver's License Organizational skills Video production Associate's degree Communication skills Full Job Description The Texas Senate is currently accepting applications for the position of: AUDIO VISUAL TECHNICIAN II - Operator/Editor RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate and maintain broadcast equipment for local and remote use Provide tech support for all software and hardware related computer and hardware issues that could arise in the production or broadcast of Senate business or an event Shoot, switch, playback, and record video, operate CG, and transcribe broadcasts Monitor quality and accuracy of incoming and outgoing on-air programming Set up, test, and strike portable AV equipment for events, broadcasts, and recordings Operate camera, teleprompter, audio, and lighting for portable productions Offer technical advice and instruction on equipment, software and system use to colleagues, staff, and clients Communicate or troubleshoot technical issues affecting broadcast quality Modify, procure, install, test and operate system components Maintain and repair computers, specialized software Inventory A/V equipment, tools, machinery, and supplies Coordinate media logistics and AV support for remote Senate business and events Make cables and provide support for Capitol cable television service Communicate with members, staff, and clients in person, by phone and email Travel occasionally for remote broadcasts and recordings in Texas Work requires contact with public officials Work includes evenings, weekends and holidays, often on short notice Additional duties as required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of the inner workings of a broadcast facility is helpful Attention to detail, excellent organization, and communication skills Ability to handle fast-paced situations with concurrent, multiple, and shifting priorities Operate, diagnose and resolve broadcast, production, and computer-related issues with minimum supervision Ability to read as-built diagrams Communicate technical issues with tact and diplomacy Demonstrated commitment to a collaborative work environment Physical Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING: An associate's degree or higher in communications, media, TV, electronics, or computer science is preferred. Equivalent experience in TV production, media technology, broadcasting, or other related fields may be substituted. EXPERIENCE: Electronic equipment operation and diagnostics Prior experience with fiber, patch bays, video routers, and broadcast systems is preferred, Ross Open Gear frames, Ultrix, and Dashboard are a plus Prior experience with web-based video conferencing is preferred, Zoom, WebEx, and Microsoft Teams is a plus Video production and postproduction experience is required, Chyron Graphics Systems, FinalCut Pro7, Avid, and/or Adobe Creative Suite editing software is a plus MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: video, audio, non-linear editing, teleprompter, and fiber television equipment and software web-based video conferencing software Job Types: Full-time, Temporary Pay: $3,750.00 per month Schedule: Monday to Friday Overtime Work Location: In person
