About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Auditor to join our team at Los Angeles World Airports. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen and a thorough understanding of financial auditing processes. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and enhancing the integrity of our financial reporting. As an Auditor, you will work closely with various departments to assess risk management practices and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in financial auditing, preferably within public accounting or governmental accounting environments.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts, risk management principles, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with COSO framework and its application in internal controls assessment is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to present findings clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct compliance, financial, and program audits adhering to both generally accepted auditing standards (GMS) and generally accepted government auditing standards (GAGAS).
  • Examine accounting and financial records of businesses, lessees, permittees, and concessionaires to verify the accuracy of revenue payments to the City.
  • Perform initial assessments of operations, including methodologies and information systems utilized, analyze data, and generate audit documentation.
  • Conduct on-site audits of airport tenants.
  • Perform Assurance audits of LAWA Capital Improvement Projects and City Services invoice reviews.
  • Conduct interviews and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Examine journals, ledgers, invoices, contracts, CPA reports and other related records.
  • Prepare working papers and consolidate findings for review by the supervisor, including source, purpose and conclusion.
  • Analyze differences between what has been reported and audit findings.
  • Prepare draft and final audit reports.
  • Review lease and/or operating agreements to determine revenue sharing requirements, reporting requirements, terms of agreement, required record retention, and any unique or special term which may be contained in agreements.
  • Determine the adequacy of internal controls over cash receipts and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
  • Represent LAWA at conferences with auditees to present and discuss audit findings.
  • Recommend improvements in methodology of accounting and record keeping where applicable.
  • Perform special requests audits for outgoing tenants to determine whether they owe LAWA any outstanding revenue or fees.
