About The Position

The Auto Body Technician at Caliber Collision is responsible for repairing vehicles in a thorough, safe, and profitable manner, adhering to company standards and industry guidelines. This role involves disassembling vehicles to assess damage, planning repair procedures, and ensuring all repairs meet safety and quality standards before returning vehicles to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Complete dis-assembly of vehicles to assist Service Advisors in assessing damage and preparing a 100% Repair Plan.
  • Ensure all needed repairs are identified to eliminate supplements and minimize repair time.
  • Plan work procedures by following work orders for all operations listed.
  • Remove upholstery, accessories, and equipment to gain access to damaged areas of vehicles as needed.
  • Store parts properly to eliminate potential damage.
  • Mend damaged body parts by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts; ensure all gaps and fits meet industry standards.
  • Remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills; bolt or weld replacement parts in position and reassemble after painting.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including welders, soldering equipment, cutting torches, and spray guns.
  • File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces before turning vehicles over to the Paint Department.
  • Repair or replace defective parts as necessary.
  • Inspect and test drive repaired vehicles to check for compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Wash and prepare vehicles for customer return.
  • Comply with all Caliber safety rules, guidelines, and standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including washing cars and cleaning the shop.
