About the position

Alarm.com is seeking a passionate engineer to work at the intersection of hardware and software to join our Automation team and contribute to our internal Hardware in Loop (HIL) infrastructure. The interdisciplinary nature of our work will have you interfacing with various teams in the R&D department ranging from hardware/RF to embedded and Linux firmware, as well as across departments with software and quality engineers. The Automation team is uniquely positioned as a service team, where the customers are the various R&D and product teams seeking to integrate automated testing and automation tools into their workflows. Our expertise in interacting with and manipulating hardware/devices under test enables teams to validate the latest firmware on the hardware intended for production. As a member of this team, you will work with us to improve and expand our infrastructure and interface with these teams to ensure they leverage our tools as effectively as possible. As a market leader in home security, we not only integrate with best-in-class products, but also conduct in-house R&D centered on Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Supporting efforts such as battery power consumption testing and communication stability testing falls within our team's expertise. Few small companies innovate and develop across as broad a range of technologies as Alarm.com. This position is ideal for a candidate seeking a small, friendly company culture where one can work closely with smart and highly productive people. Getting to work with cellular networks (5G, LTE, Cat-M, LoRa, Bluetooth, and other communication protocols), embedded integrations, and home automation to develop outstanding consumer products is an added benefit. An interest in device manufacturing and hardware development is a plus. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership abilities and technical expertise.
