Automation Engineer

About the position

Zachary Piper Solutions is actively seeking a TS/SCI Cleared Systems Automation Engineer to support USSOCOM on Fort Bragg, NC. The role involves executing the design of server and application architectures, as well as the administrative operation and maintenance of server hardware and software. The engineer will sustain system security, implement practices and procedures, monitor usage statistics and logs, and remedy attempts to penetrate or corrupt server files. Additionally, the engineer will deliver technical support for enterprise-level systems and services, from planning and design through deployment.

Responsibilities

• Executes design of server and application architectures.
• Administers operation and maintenance of server hardware and software.
• Sustains system security and implements practices and procedures.
• Monitors usage statistics and logs.
• Monitors and remedies attempts to penetrate or corrupt server files.
• Delivers technical support for enterprise-level systems and services from planning and design through deployment.

Requirements

• 6 years+ of experience with system engineering support of Windows server platforms, including virtual servers.
• 5 years+ of experience with automation and scripting tools.
• Solid experience of automation/orchestration utilizing PowerShell and Git.
• Experience with different programming languages, including Python and PowerShell.
• Advanced understanding of modern server/workstation operating systems and network technologies sufficient to automate associated processes - Windows / RHEL.
• Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services (i.e., Azure, AWS).
• Integration of Git in CI/CD.
• Working knowledge of the networking stack (VLAN, subnets, ports, firewalls, routing, and switching).
• Advanced knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP, and other TCP/IP protocols and services in support of virtualization and storage technologies.
