About the position

The Automotive Pre-Owned Sales Manager at McGovern Automotive Group is responsible for overseeing the used vehicle inventory and sales operations at two dealership locations. This role involves managing trade-ins, auction purchases, and ensuring optimal inventory turnover while meeting sales and profit objectives. The position requires strong leadership skills, a focus on customer service, and the ability to analyze market trends to drive sales performance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains used vehicle inventory, including trade-ins, off-street purchases, and auction purchases.
  • Controls and monitors aging of used inventory to maintain a 90-day turn with a focus on a 60-day turn.
  • Coordinates wholesale disposition of non-retail trade-in units through established auction venues.
  • Maintains the process of reverse recon to have actual pictures online within 48 hours.
  • Creates proper descriptions for online listings through V-Auto, marking all options and adding descriptions of specialty vehicles.
  • Serves as a liaison between the sales department and other departments.
  • Meets annual and monthly objectives for used unit sales, gross profits, expenses, and operating profit.
  • Analyzes and controls expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Reviews market analyses and sales reports to determine customer needs and volume potential.
  • Monitors salespersons' productivity and performance daily, monthly, and annually by projected income.
  • Ensures that salespeople follow established sales and prospecting programs for optimum results.
  • Administers and monitors factory-sponsored programs.
  • Displays, merchandises, and promotes used vehicles.
  • Safeguards dealership assets and customer data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least two years of management experience in the auto industry.
  • At least two years' experience with auction purchasing required.
  • At least five years of automotive sales experience.
  • Ability to reach a minimum quota according to dealership standards.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Authorized to work in the USA.
