About the position

The Automotive Product Lead is a supervisory role responsible for leading and supporting a team of geographically dispersed repair technicians in a manufacturing environment. This position involves extensive customer interaction, coordination of shift coverage, and hands-on mentoring of technicians. The lead will ensure that repair goals and delivery milestones are met while providing technical assistance and resolving project issues to maintain productivity and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate, lead, and support geographically dispersed repair technicians.
  • Track float count, vehicles repaired per technician, schedules, deliverables, and team planning activities.
  • Ensure customer launch support deadlines and repair goals are met.
  • Liaise with clients to identify and gain consensus on requirements and deliverables.
  • Intake new work and assist with developing scope, schedule, and cost estimates.
  • Assign work and monitor deliverables of team members, ensuring adherence to processes and best practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date plans and schedules for program deliverables.
  • Ensure budgets are adhered to and potential cost overruns are contained.
  • Serve as a go-to for questions and guidance for trainers and developers.
  • Participate in internal/external meetings and launch-related activities.

Requirements

  • Prior supervisory experience leading a geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Minimum of 5 years related automotive/manufacturing industry/OEM assembly plant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automotive systems from an advanced diagnostics perspective.
  • Ability to support the team as needed for repair activities on-site.
  • Ability to research and track the customer's build schedule for team coverage.
  • Ability to read and interpret a digital multimeter, OEM Scan Tool, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret early engineering level electrical schematic diagrams.
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management and handling multiple projects.
  • Ability to interface with diverse teams, engineers, and UAW personnel.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PPT, Excel).
  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Demonstrated professional experience delivering technical training.
  • Demonstrated professional presentation skills and leadership abilities.
  • ASE Certifications (A1 - A8).
