The Aviation Safety Inspector at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation plays a critical role in ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft and their components. This position is based in Fort Worth, TX, and is essential for maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in aviation operations. The inspector is responsible for physically inspecting aircraft and components, as well as reviewing documentation to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and company policies. The inspector's work is vital in returning customer aircraft to service in an airworthy condition, ensuring that all required documentation is properly completed and filed. In this role, the inspector will conduct quality control inspections on aircraft and components within the Repair Station. This includes completing inspections of aircraft, engine, and component repairs and alterations to ensure conformity to FAA approved data. The inspector will also coordinate mechanical, electrical, and inspection requirements during maintenance or outfitting of the aircraft. Maintaining accurate and legible records of work performed is crucial, as is coordinating with the Repair Station to ensure timely production of accurate aircraft records. The inspector will conduct audits of maintenance documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to approving aircraft for return to service. They will ensure that all aircraft and components are airworthy before any flight activities. Additionally, the inspector will mentor technicians on effective documentation practices and communicate with management to identify work assignments and delivery schedules. The role requires continual monitoring of repair station compliance with FAR Part 145 and adherence to the FAA accepted site Repair Station and Quality Control Manual. The inspector may also be involved in FAA required conformity inspections and may participate in flight tests as needed. This position demands strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and proficiency in computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all Quality Control inspections on aircraft/components in the Repair Station.
  • Completes inspections of aircraft, engine, and component repairs and alterations to ensure conformity to FAA approved/acceptable data.
  • Coordinates mechanical, electrical and inspection requirements on the aircraft during maintenance or outfitting.
  • Keeps accurate, neat and legible records of the work performed on aircraft/components.
  • Coordinates throughout assigned jobs with RTS to ensure accurate aircraft records are produced in a timely manner.
  • Conducts audits of maintenance documentation for accuracy and completion on all aircraft prior to approval for return to service.
  • Ensures aircraft/components are airworthy prior to any flight activities.
  • Mentors technicians on effective documentation.
  • Communicates with management as required to identify work assignments and delivery schedules.
  • Monitors repair station compliance with FAR Part 145 and the FAA accepted site Repair Station and Quality Control Manual.
  • Completes FAA required conformity inspections and compiles certification data for presentation to the FAA for approval.
  • May include flight tests on aircraft as required in support of aircraft certification and final phase testing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Airframe and Powerplant License required.
  • 4 years aircraft experience on large/mid-size aircraft.
  • Proficient in the utilization of Federal Aviation Regulations, FAA forms and documents.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation, shop mathematics and QC Procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to work all shifts.
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in A/C component Repair and Overhaul.
  • I-Level Maintenance experience is preferred.
