About the position

The AVP of Investment Accounting at Lincoln Financial Group is responsible for leading the investment operations team, focusing on the strategy for investment accounting operations, and managing relationships with third-party middle and back-office partners. This role involves overseeing accounting for various securities and investments, ensuring accurate data management, and supporting strategic transactions such as reinsurance and financing deals.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accounting for securities (public, private, and ABS), mortgage loans, and alternative investments on a GAAP, STAT, Tax, and Bermuda basis.
  • Manages team responsible for the relationship with our third-party partner, providing oversight of investment accounting data in PAM, Rockport, and the Investment Data Hub (IDH), and ensuring information in the PeopleSoft general ledger is accurate.
  • Collaborates across the organization with Investment Reporting, Treasury, Reinsurance, and Front and Middle Office teams to ensure transactions are booked appropriately and communicated to all relevant parties.
  • Monitors suspense, payable, and receivable accounts working with appropriate internal partners and provider to ensure that items are reconciled and cleared timely.
  • Develops and oversees complex processes to ensure effective procedures are in place to support internal controls (SOX/MAR) and accepted accounting policies and principles.
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility and provides leadership to continually improve the capability and results of the team.

Requirements

  • 10+ Years experience in Investment Accounting that directly aligns to the specific responsibilities for this role
  • 3+ years of managerial or supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience managing third-party middle and back-office partnerships
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership experience with the ability to influence management/critical stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a changing work environment.
