About the position

The AVP of Commercial Credit Administration and Lending Operations at Gesa Credit Union is responsible for overseeing all credit submissions from the Commercial Services Support department. This role involves maintaining credit underwriting standards, managing the Commercial Loan Servicing and Portfolio teams, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws related to Commercial and SBA Lending. The position requires collaboration with various teams to mitigate credit risk and enhance operational efficiency while providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain credit underwriting standards and recommend changes as needed.
  • Provide approval authority and recommendations on all Commercial and SBA loan submissions.
  • Review loan submissions and assist with Management Loan Committee (MCL) agenda.
  • Manage problem credits and special assets for timely resolution.
  • Oversee risk grading of all commercial credits in collaboration with the loan production team.
  • Work with regulatory examiners, third-party loan reviewers, and auditors.
  • Assess the accuracy and effectiveness of commercial loan underwriting and recommend improvements.
  • Manage the Commercial Real Estate valuation program.
  • Oversee the credit union's Commercial and SBA loan portfolios to mitigate credit risk.
  • Provide guidance on commercial loan documents to ensure legal standing with borrowers.
  • Train production staff on credit decisions and recommendations.
  • Evaluate existing and projected company cash flow.
  • Participate in organizational leadership meetings and provide strategic direction to Commercial Loan Operations.
  • Attend Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and MLC meetings, becoming a voting member of the MLC.
  • Determine value of collateral through appraisals and financial reviews.
  • Conduct site visits with lenders and MLC members.
  • Assist in the collection of past due commercial and SBA loans when necessary.
  • Maintain credit files and ensure compliance with banking regulations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of commercial lending credit administrative experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the Financial Industry, specifically in loan production and customer interaction roles.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess credit risk and make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining credit records and documentation.
  • Proficient with standard office equipment, computer hardware and software, and Microsoft programs.

  • Strong knowledge of financial statements and credit analysis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information, both orally and in writing.
