About the position

As a Bakery/Journeyman at King Soopers, you will play a crucial role in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. You will assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department while monitoring all established quality assurance standards. Embracing the Customer 1st strategy is essential, as you will encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. You will also be expected to demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others. In this position, you will promote trust and respect among associates and create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated. You will gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products. Preparing bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment will be a key part of your role, along with offering product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about. You will inform customers of bakery specials and provide them with fresh products that they have ordered, ensuring the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage. Your responsibilities will also include using all equipment in the bakery, such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens, according to company guidelines. You will prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions, measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes, and adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise. Checking product quality to ensure freshness and reviewing sell-by dates will be essential tasks. You will also need to adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures. Additionally, you will practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.

Requirements

  • Bakery experience
  • Retail experience
  • Ability to speak, read, and/or write a second language

  • Current food handlers permit once employed
