About the position

Broulim's Fresh Foods is seeking skilled and devoted team members for the Bakery Department. The position involves interviewing, selecting, and hiring qualified personnel, overseeing the development and growth of team members, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The role requires delivering excellent guest service, maintaining quality and value in bakery products, and promoting a clean and safe work environment. The individual will also be responsible for maintaining effective control of department labor and inventory, meeting budget expectations, and ensuring company standards for safety and sanitation are upheld.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, select and hire qualified personnel for the Bakery Department.
  • Participate in setting and achieving goals for personal skills and engagement during evaluations.
  • Oversee the development and growth of Bakery Department team members through training and evaluations.
  • Conduct evaluations and address disciplinary concerns in a timely manner.
  • Teach fundamentals of Bakery production including mixing, scaling, proofing, baking, frying, and finishing.
  • Deliver excellent guest service through friendly and courteous behavior.
  • Maintain good working relationships with other department managers.
  • Supervise planning, organization, and direction of Bakery Department activities.
  • Cost out products to determine proper retail pricing.
  • Oversee receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of Bakery products.
  • Plan and execute merchandising programs for increased sales.
  • Maintain adequate stock and inventory control to prevent spoilage and ensure proper stock rotations.
  • Promote a high level of morale and respect within the department.
  • Maintain a clean environment in the department and ensure safety practices are followed.
  • Maintain effective control of department labor and inventory in line with budgets.
  • Meet or exceed budgeted expectations for contribution.
  • Assist in maintaining effective department security and awareness of competitive activity.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, interpret and apply instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills.
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback and be accountable for success.
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
  • High School diploma or GED; or related job experience/training required.
  • Food Handlers Certificate required.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Previous Bakery experience required.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with bakery production and management.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and cost control.
