About the position

The Agile Product Owner (APO) Senior at USAA is responsible for enhancing digital customer experiences within the Bank Digital and Transformation Team. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to drive the vision and strategy for mobile and online banking solutions, ensuring quality product delivery, and acting as the voice of the end-user. The APO Senior will establish an agile team culture focused on transparency, continuous improvement, and member-centricity, while also managing the backlog and prioritizing work based on business needs and customer feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and drive the vision and strategy to key stakeholders and Bank agile team members.
  • Ensure delivery of quality product and member experience solutions through collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Team-of-Teams Lead to clarify and align on business strategy, goals, and objectives.
  • Translate business understanding into a clear vision for the Bank agile team to inform backlog creation and prioritization.
  • Define and communicate acceptance criteria for output based on business requirements and customer needs.
  • Anticipate and solve complex issues using a data-driven approach, including fund allocation and tracking OKRs.
  • Deliver against Bank agile team level OKRs and act as the voice of the end-user.
  • Proactively seek customer feedback to understand their needs and ensure end user value is delivered.
  • Own the Bank agile team backlog, including grooming, prioritization, and refinement.
  • Optimize the flow of value through the multi-Bank agile team environment, removing impediments and managing risks.
  • Look for opportunities for continuous team and process improvement and make recommendations to leadership.
  • May lead functional Bank agile teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 6+ years of experience in process improvement, project delivery, business/requirements analysis, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of multiple technical software delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, SAFe).
  • Advanced experience analyzing business requirements, process flows, and use cases to streamline business processes.
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated use of Process Engineering methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of applicable banking, regulatory, and compliance policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent understanding of mobile app ecosystems and the mobile app development process.
  • Experience creating user journeys that guide customers to successful completion in digital channels.
  • Experience leading Human Centered Design initiatives for exceptional digital experiences.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze product data to drive decisions.
  • Significant experience managing cross-functional teams with minimal oversight.
  • Experience in leading innovative programs that translate business and customer needs into measurable solutions.
  • US military experience through service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
