The Base Communications Staff Support Specialist will provide essential communications and information systems program management, advice, and expertise for Air Combat Command (ACC) communications initiatives and projects. This role is crucial in ensuring that the communications needs of the ACC are met effectively and efficiently. The position operates during normal daytime hours and involves a variety of responsibilities that require a deep understanding of military communications systems and project management skills. In this role, the specialist will be responsible for providing program management and advice for Military Construction (MILCON) and Facility, Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (FSRM) projects for ACC/A6 and its direct report units. This includes attending meetings, articulating the needs of ACC communications squadrons, and advocating for necessary projects. The specialist will coordinate quarterly teleconferences and provide functional validation and prioritization of communications projects, ensuring that all initiatives align with the strategic goals of the ACC. The specialist will also evaluate and document base communications and information technology plans, assessing their impacts and identifying any shortfalls. This includes reviewing unfunded submissions for Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and Procurement requirements, applying risk management matrices to prioritize these needs. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including HQ ACC staff, Air Force agencies, and other military branches, to ensure that communications infrastructure requirements are met in a cost-effective manner. Additionally, the specialist will provide updates on the status of communications projects and initiatives, assist with bed-down requirements for new missions, and validate infrastructure requirements submitted by the ACC Cyberspace System Integrator. This position demands a proactive approach to project management and a strong ability to communicate effectively with senior military personnel and civilians.
