About The Position

The Classroom Float/Behavior Support Aide position at SENDCAA Head Start involves supporting educational staff and children in a classroom setting. The role is designed to assist in maintaining a positive learning environment, implementing behavior support plans, and ensuring the safety and well-being of children. This full-time position follows a 9-month academic calendar and requires consistent attendance and engagement with children, as well as participation in training and meetings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification to be completed within 3 months of hire.
  • 3 months of experience working with children.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate interaction with young children.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with children, parents, and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education.
  • Child Development Associate credential (can be earned while working).
  • Behavior Support Technician Training.
  • Enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom staff by supervising children in the classroom and bathroom.
  • Lead small group activities and engage children in educational and enrichment activities.
  • Participate in training and meetings as required by the supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment by following policies and procedures.
  • Implement a child's Behavior Support Plan appropriately and collect progress notes.
  • Engage with children to build relationships while maintaining awareness of classroom needs.
  • Model good health practices and assist in implementing family-style meals.
