About the position

The Benefits and Compensation Manager is responsible for optimizing the organization's health, welfare, compensation, and retirement programs. This role involves managing compliance, pay structures, and competitive wage rates, while providing guidance to the Benefits Coordinator and serving as the operations backup for the Benefits Specialist. The position requires a strategic approach to enhance benefits administration and ensure alignment with company policies and legal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Streamline and optimize health, welfare, compensation, and retirement programs.
  • Manage benefits compliance and pay structures.
  • Monitor competitive wage rates and develop or modify compensation plans.
  • Oversee the management and administration of the 401(k) plans and compensation programs.
  • Review and analyze compensation plans for cost-effectiveness and market competitiveness.
  • Lead execution of compensation programs such as base salary and incentive compensation.
  • Collect data to produce wage and salary reports.
  • Manage vendors and provide performance feedback to senior leadership.
  • Ensure benefits administration aligns with company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Maintain benefit documentation for all carriers and ensure compliance with filing requirements.
  • Develop and deliver effective employee communications regarding benefits.
  • Act as the main point of contact for managing all benefit plans.
  • Process monthly billings from insurance providers and ensure accuracy.
  • Manage the open enrollment process, including communications and vendor management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with some college experience completed.
  • 8+ years of Benefits and Compensation Management or Total Rewards experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPS and pivot tables.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills; HRIS knowledge required, Paycom preferred.
  • Deep analytical skills to translate data into insights and recommendations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of laws affecting employee compensation.
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders and articulate recommendations.
  • Extensive knowledge of benefits and compensation programs and applicable legislation.
  • Advanced expertise in US employment laws, including federal and state regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or Business Management.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification.
