About the position

The Benefits Coordinator position at the State of Indiana offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being of Hoosiers by managing and coordinating various aspects of employee benefits. This role is situated within the Neurodiagnostic Institute and Advanced Treatment Center, which is dedicated to providing advanced evaluations and treatments for patients with psychiatric illnesses. As a Benefits Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that employees have access to the necessary benefits and support they need to thrive in their roles. In this position, you will be responsible for completing essential forms related to patient insurance, including Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security applications. Your expertise in software such as PeopleSoft and Excel will be beneficial in managing data and maintaining accurate records. You will also engage with employees and the public, answering inquiries about program policies and procedures, which requires strong communication skills and a customer-oriented approach. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include researching and compiling information on program procedures, needs, and policies, as well as organizing and maintaining both current and historical files related to the program. You will assist in the preparation of program reports, budget allocations, and the purchasing of consultative services, ensuring that all program assets are monitored and organized effectively. Additionally, you will be tasked with scheduling and disseminating training materials related to the program, contributing to the overall success of the team and the services provided to the community.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security forms related to patient insurance.
  • Research and compile information on specific aspects of the program such as procedures, needs, and policies.
  • Answer basic customer questions about program policies and procedures.
  • Establish, organize, and maintain current and historical files related to the program.
  • Collect information to help in the preparation of program reports, develop applications, prepare budget allocations and/or purchasing of consultative services.
  • Maintain, organize, and monitor program assets.
  • Schedule, prepare, and disseminate all program related training materials.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of the program area.
  • Working knowledge of applicable legislation, guidelines, agency policy and professional standards and practices.
  • Ability to research and compile specific topics related to program area.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a group decision-making process.
  • Tact in dealing with other agency personnel and the public.
  • Specialized knowledge of accounting principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PeopleSoft and Excel.
  • Good customer relations skills.
