About the position

Sierra Space is seeking a Benefits Manager to oversee the administration of employee benefits, wellness programs, retirement plans, and leave administration. This role is crucial in ensuring that our benefits offerings are competitive, compliant, and effectively communicated to our employees. The Benefits Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the benefits team, including managing the annual benefit renewals and the open enrollment process. This position requires a strong understanding of benefits administration and the ability to provide training and support to the benefits team. In this role, you will oversee the monthly benefit payments to providers and vendors, ensuring accurate reconciliation of all benefit-related general ledger accounts. You will also be responsible for maintaining the benefits broker relationship, addressing any areas of concern, and providing real-time feedback to ensure that our benefits offerings meet the needs of our employees. Additionally, you will coordinate benefits data management, documenting and maintaining administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes. The Benefits Manager will handle high-level employee inquiries regarding benefits policies and procedures, working closely with our Benefit Brokers and Legal Counsel to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. You will also support various projections such as coverage analysis and post-acquisition program integration, contributing to the overall success of our benefits programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of Sierra Space Benefits, Wellness, Retirement Plans, and Leave Administration.
  • Manage employee communications regarding benefits and 401(k) plans.
  • Provide training and support to the benefits team and direct annual benefit renewals and the open enrollment process.
  • Oversee monthly benefit payments to providers/vendors and reconcile all benefit-related general ledger accounts.
  • Address discrepancies between amounts owed/paid by employees.
  • Manage the benefits broker relationship and provide real-time feedback on areas of concern.
  • Coordinate benefits data management, including documentation and maintenance of administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes.
  • Maintain benefit files, plan summaries, policies, and annual ERISA updates.
  • Resolve high-level employee questions and concerns regarding benefit policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with Benefit Brokers and Legal Counsel to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Support various projections such as coverage analysis and post-acquisition program integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Typically 4 - 6 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Leadership abilities including successful change management, mentoring, and career development.
  • Experience in training, succession planning, and conducting yearly reviews.
  • Background in HR, Benefits, and Retirement Plans is preferred.
  • Strong experience in Retirement and 401k plans.
  • Strong computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of DoD, government contracting, and/or public auditing policies.
