Berklee City Music is a nonprofit program dedicated to providing music education to 4th through 12th graders in underserved communities. With over 20 years of experience in the Greater Boston Area, Berklee City Music Boston serves as the founding site of the Berklee City Music Network. The program operates as an out-of-school time, student-centered organization that adopts a holistic approach to training musicians, focusing on building leaders and fostering community. Participants in the program benefit from a comprehensive popular music education that leverages the power of contemporary music. They receive instruction in theory and musicianship, participate in ensembles, and engage in one-on-one lessons, alongside access to the PULSE online curriculum. Students enrolled in Berklee City Music gain invaluable opportunities, including performance experiences, workshops with visiting artists, master classes, and other resources available on the Berklee campus. The program offers year-round instruction led by expert faculty, individualized mentoring, and a well-rounded curriculum designed to set students up for success. The City Music Boston Teaching Artists will instruct in one or more of the Boston Academies or the City Music ArtsLink Program. The High School Academy is open to ninth- through 12th-grade students in the Boston area and takes place at Berklee College of Music on weekdays after school. Admission to this scholarship-based program is contingent upon application, audition, and interview. The Preparatory Academy serves fourth- through eighth-graders in the Boston or Greater Boston area, also requiring application, audition, and interview for selection. This program is scholarship-based, ensuring no cost for participation. The ArtsLink program provides enrichment and support to public school music programs and teachers, directly assisting music educators in building instrumental and choral groups. This initiative reaches over 1500 students annually across 13 partnering schools, serving students in grades 4-12. Berklee is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals can excel based on their merit and qualifications. The organization actively works to combat inequality and is dedicated to providing fair and equitable consideration to all employees and applicants, regardless of various protected categories. Berklee also emphasizes the importance of diversity in its community and curriculum, encouraging candidates who can contribute to this goal to apply. The institution is dedicated to accommodating individuals with disabilities and ensuring they receive the necessary support throughout the application and employment process.
