About The Position

The Bid Specialist at StandardAero is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of proposal development for government contract opportunities. This role involves overseeing the proposal process from initial request to final submission, ensuring compliance, and collaborating with various team members to deliver high-quality proposals on time.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; University degree in business administration, communications, marketing, engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong project management, planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong business writing skills.
  • Basic understanding of Financial Accounting calculations and measures (Gross Margin, EBITDA, ROS, etc).
  • Proficient in all MS Office Products with exceptional proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Education or exposure to proposal process methodology such as Shipley.
  • Thorough knowledge of company processes, instructions, and export compliance.
  • Thorough knowledge of marketing and business development concepts.
  • Thorough knowledge of the government contracting and proposal industry/environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in government contracting and proposal development processes.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
  • Advanced skills in financial modeling and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of proposal development and coordinate activities of proposal team members.
  • Ensure opportunity Gating process is applied and lead Gate brief development, approval, and documentation.
  • Coordinate Level 1 Contract Tender Approvals (CTAs).
  • Prepare Terms of Reference/Capture Plans for major proposals and business development opportunities.
  • Complete State, County, and Government Department vendor registrations.
  • Work with Regional Sales Managers to complete Support Agreements, including coordination of pricing structures.
  • Produce and maintain the proposal timeline, budget, and present status updates to the Steering or Executive Team.
  • Identify and select appropriate proposal team members and maintain team enthusiasm and recognition.
  • Read, interpret, analyze, and prepare strategies for formal written responses to customer and government RFPs, RFIs, SSNs, and capability packages.
  • Interpret and develop the technical scope of work to ensure coherence with the awarded contract.
  • Determine key evaluation criteria for assessing new proposal and business development opportunities.
  • Create proposal outlines, compliance matrices, edit written material, and perform quality checks under tight deadlines.
  • Develop financial aspects of proposal responses including Cost Benefits Analysis and Return on Investment scenarios.
  • Model pricing scenarios using sector pricing models and coordinate final pricing with the Business Unit.
  • Complete annual updates and maintain product pricing models and catalogues.
  • Develop proposal win strategies and manage proposal compliance checks.
  • Prepare and manage proposal reviews and responses to Evaluation Notices and RFP amendments.
  • Read and interpret customer contracts and subcontracts.
  • Lead hand-off of successful bids to Contracts/Program/Operations.
  • Conduct lessons learned post-bid award/loss.
  • Assist management in analyzing customer, market, and industry for new business development opportunities.
  • Participate in discussions and negotiations regarding proposal and business development opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategic business unit plans to ensure profit, growth, and expansion of products and services.
  • Carry out special projects as assigned.
