About the position

The Biological Science Technician (Invasive Species) position is a temporary role focused on controlling invasive plant species and assisting with various biological projects in coastal and wetland habitats. The technician will work closely with volunteers and team members to monitor and treat invasive species, contributing to habitat improvement and ecological health.

Responsibilities

  • Control invasive plants by hand-pulling, lopping, weed whacking, and spraying herbicides.
  • Work with large groups of volunteers to accomplish biological projects including wildlife, vegetation, and invasive species monitoring.
  • Assist with field work including habitat improvement projects such as invasive species assessment and treatment.
  • Survey for and treat invasive species populations at coastal and wetland habitats.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-04 in the Federal service, or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Valid state driver's license required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with GPS mapping of pest species.
  • Knowledge of invasive species mitigation processes.
  • Practical knowledge of biological sciences.
