About the position

The Biomedical Engineer (Instrumentation) at Kaiser Permanente is responsible for planning, training, installing, maintaining, and repairing sophisticated medical equipment and systems used in patient diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring. This role requires collaboration with various biomedical engineering specialties and involves both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with safety standards and documentation of all work performed.

Responsibilities

• Perform all phases of scheduled and corrective repairs of biomedical equipment and medical systems under supervision.
• Conduct pre-issue and asset accounting, equipment installation, and de-installation as needed.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, and electrical safety tests of biomedical equipment to maintain code compliance.
• Document the results of all inspections, maintenance, and tests.
• Collaborate with other biomedical engineers and OEM representatives to ensure effective service delivery.
• Complete applicable documentation of all work performed in a timely manner.
• Travel frequently to provide service support and attend technical training as required.
• Participate in afterhours work and on-call schedules for emergency service.

Requirements

• Minimum four (4) years of experience in biomedical engineering or related field.
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
• Valid California Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Experience and working knowledge of medical equipment and systems in general instrumentation or specialty area.

Nice-to-haves

• Associates degree or equivalent in electronics, physics, or related science degree preferred.
