About the position

The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for planning, training others, and managing the installation, maintenance, and repair of advanced medical equipment and systems used in patient diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring. This role involves collaboration with various biomedical specialties and requires a commitment to maintaining compliance and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all phases of scheduled and corrective repairs of biomedical equipment and medical systems under supervision.
  • Conduct pre-issue and asset accounting, as well as installation and de-installation of related equipment as needed.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, and electrical safety tests of biomedical equipment to ensure code compliance.
  • Document the results of all inspections, maintenance, and tests accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with other biomedical engineers and specialties, KPIT, Business Partners, and OEM representatives.
  • Complete applicable documentation of all work performed in a timely manner.
  • Travel frequently to provide service support as a Shared Services/Support biomedical engineer.
  • Occasionally travel to provide service support to other sites as a Stationary Service Area Support biomedical engineer.
  • Attend technical training sessions as required, which may involve travel.
  • Work afterhours as needed to complete required work, including being on-call for emergency service.

Requirements

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in formal and/or on-the-job training.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
  • Valid unrestricted class C or better driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Experience and working knowledge of medical equipment and systems in general instrumentation or the assigned specialty area.
  • Proficiency in operating PCs with Windows operating systems.
  • Willingness to work extended hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates degree or equivalent in electronics, physics, or a related science degree preferred.
