The Biomedical Engineer plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by planning, training others, and ensuring the installation, maintenance, and repair of sophisticated medical equipment and systems that are essential for the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. This position requires working under the supervision of a manager or designated authority to perform all phases of scheduled and corrective repairs of biomedical equipment and medical systems. The engineer will be responsible for conducting pre-issue and asset accounting, as well as the installation and de-installation of related equipment as necessary. In addition to repair and maintenance tasks, the Biomedical Engineer will perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, and electrical safety tests of biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with relevant codes. Documenting the results of all inspections, maintenance, and tests is a critical responsibility, as accurate records are essential for maintaining equipment safety and reliability. Collaboration is key in this role, as the engineer will work closely with other biomedical engineering specialties, including Instrumentation, X-Ray, CT/MR, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Laboratory, RT/Anesthesia, Ophthalmology/Lasers, and Clinical Systems Integrations, as well as KPIT, Business Partners, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) representatives. The position requires frequent travel for Shared Services/Support biomed engineers to provide service support, with occasional travel for Stationary Service Area Support biomed engineers to assist other sites. All engineers will also need to travel for technical training. After-hours work may be necessary, both on a scheduled and unscheduled basis, to complete required tasks. Engineers will be assigned to a weekday and weekend on-call schedule to perform emergency services, and communication devices will be provided and must be kept on during duty hours.
