About the position

The Biomedical Engineer plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by planning, training others, and ensuring the installation, maintenance, and repair of sophisticated medical equipment and systems that are essential for the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of various biomedical equipment and systems, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other engineering specialties and external partners. The engineer will be responsible for performing all phases of scheduled and corrective repairs of biomedical equipment and medical systems under the supervision of a manager or designee. This includes conducting pre-issue and asset accounting, as well as the installation and de-installation of related equipment as necessary. In addition to repair and maintenance tasks, the Biomedical Engineer will perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, and electrical safety tests of biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with relevant codes. Documenting the results of all inspections, maintenance, and tests is a critical part of the role, as is the need to work collaboratively with other biomedical engineers specializing in various fields such as Instrumentation, X-Ray, CT/MR, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Laboratory, RT/Anesthesia, Ophthalmology/Lasers, and Clinical Systems Integrations. The engineer will also be required to complete all applicable documentation of work performed in a timely manner. Frequent travel is a requirement for Shared Services/Support biomedical engineers to provide service support, with occasional travel needed for Stationary Service Area Support engineers to assist other sites. All engineers will also need to travel for technical training. The role may require after-hours work on a scheduled or unscheduled basis to complete necessary tasks, and engineers will be assigned to a weekday and weekend on-call schedule to perform emergency services. Communication devices will be provided and must be kept on during duty hours to ensure effective communication.
