The position of Medical Imaging Equipment Technician at Kaiser Permanente involves a range of responsibilities under the supervision of the Clinical Technology Manager and Chief Medical Imaging Engineer. The technician will be engaged in the acquisition, installation, calibration, repair, and maintenance of medical imaging equipment. This role is critical in ensuring that medical imaging systems are operational, safe, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations. The technician will advise on specifications for new equipment purchases and recommend replacements for obsolete or irreparable equipment. They will also evaluate new products as requested and collaborate with key stakeholders to prepare for the installation and deployment of medical imaging systems, which includes various technical aspects such as electrical, mechanical, gas, pneumatics, software, networking, and integration with data retention systems. In addition to installation, the technician will be responsible for preparing periodic maintenance instructions and performing required safety inspections and performance assurance on new medical equipment. They will assess equipment for compliance with HIPAA storage and security policies and maintain documentation for the centralized maintenance management system. The technician will also perform or coordinate preventive maintenance and performance assessments, analyze and correct malfunctions, and document all work performed. They will handle remediation actions for safety and recall alerts and investigate incidents involving medical equipment. Training and assigning work to third-party service vendors and student trainees will also be part of the role, along with assisting in staff education and cross-training new employees on departmental procedures and test equipment usage. The technician is expected to maintain current knowledge of advancing technology and develop a professional growth plan, ensuring they are equipped to meet the evolving needs of the organization. Miscellaneous duties may also be assigned as required to support the organization's objectives.
