About the position

The Biomedical Engineer (Regional Clinical Specialist) at Brainlab, Inc. is responsible for providing on-site consulting and technical support to physicians and operating room personnel, ensuring the effective use of Image Guided Surgery (IGS) products. This role involves analyzing and resolving product issues, educating hospital staff, and acting as a primary liaison with customers to enhance satisfaction and drive revenue through product sales. The position requires significant travel, especially in the initial months, to support various clinical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site consulting, guidance, and assistance to physicians and operating room personnel during surgery.
  • Analyze, resolve, and repair product issues using engineering expertise.
  • Direct and assist Radiology staff in performing necessary scans prior to surgery.
  • Educate and train physicians and hospital personnel on the use of IGS products and services.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for hospital staff.
  • Act as the primary customer liaison, assessing satisfaction and usage levels.
  • Work closely with various team members on market transparency and upgrade initiatives.
  • Utilize engineering expertise to recommend product modifications for quality improvement.
  • Attend meetings and trade shows to demonstrate and promote IGS products and services.
  • Keep abreast of developments regarding Brainlab and competitive IGS products.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Clinical Engineering, or Nursing required.
  • 1-3 years minimum experience in a technical support role, preferably in a healthcare company.
  • 1-2 years minimum sales experience with a healthcare company preferred.
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and medical terminology preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of PC software applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to make independent decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in technical support for medical devices or healthcare technology.
  • Familiarity with sales processes in the healthcare industry.
