About the position

The Biomedical Engineering Technician I position at Froedtert Hospital involves a range of responsibilities under guidance and supervision. The primary duties include assisting or performing the installation, calibration, inspection, preventative maintenance, and repair of basic patient care equipment. This position is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is an on-site role requiring a full-time commitment. The work schedule is primarily during the first shift, with flexible hours from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Additionally, the technician will participate in an on-call rotation approximately six times a year for one week, which may require them to respond to urgent equipment issues outside of regular working hours. This aspect of the job emphasizes the importance of reliability and readiness to address equipment needs promptly. Candidates for this position should have a strong foundation in biomedical or electrical technology, with a preference for those who have specialized training in medical technology service and support. Responsibilities

  • Assist or perform installation of basic patient care equipment.
  • Calibrate patient monitoring, surgical devices, and infusion devices.
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on medical equipment.
  • Repair basic diagnostic and therapeutic equipment as needed.
  • Perform other related technical tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Biomedical or Electrical Technology or equivalent military training is required.
  • 3 years of related experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical technology is required.
  • Knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking ability are necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Valid WI driver's license is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Specialized training in medical technology service and support is preferred.
  • Experience in repair, installation, maintenance, calibration, and inspection of medical equipment is preferred.
