The Biomedical Technician at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and functionality of medical equipment within the facility. This position involves maintaining, operating, testing, inspecting, and repairing a wide range of medical and non-medical equipment. The technician will specialize in the repair of patient beds, surgical tables, clinical furnishings, and transport devices, which includes mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic controls as well as alarm systems. The technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on complex clinical equipment, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally to support patient care. In addition to hands-on repair work, the Biomedical Technician will maintain historical maintenance documentation of inspections and repairs, process all equipment repairs, and conduct preventative maintenance checks on all equipment. The role also requires effective communication skills, as the technician will answer, transfer, and respond to incoming telephone and electronic mail work requests. The technician will also be responsible for making purchase orders and restocking parts as necessary, as well as completing errands as directed by supervisors. This position is essential in supporting the overall mission of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center, which is to provide high-quality healthcare services to the community. The technician will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure that all medical equipment is safe and reliable, contributing to the overall patient experience and care outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, operate, test, inspect, and repair medical and non-medical equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on complex clinical equipment including patient beds and patient lifts.
  • Specialize in the repair of patient beds, surgical tables, clinical furnishings, and transport devices.
  • Maintain historical maintenance documentation of inspections and repairs.
  • Process all equipment repairs and preventative maintenance checks on all equipment.
  • Answer, transfer, and respond to incoming telephone and electronic mail work requests.
  • Make purchase orders and restock parts as necessary.
  • Complete errands as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • 2 years in Biomedical Electronics repair shop or 2 years of general maintenance experience with hospital bed, surgical tables, and equipment repair required.
  • Experience with microprocess controlled devices, hydraulics, and pneumatics required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates Degree in Biomedical Electronics preferred.
  • Certificate of training from a Technical School in Biomedical Electronics preferred.
