About the position

The Penske Body Shop Supervisor is a pivotal role within the Penske Corporation, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the body shop. This position requires a strong leader who can manage and motivate a team while ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. The Body Shop Supervisor will be involved in a variety of repair tasks, including but not limited to cab and sheet metal repair, composite bonding, heating and air conditioning systems, surface preparation, fiberglass repair, and box repair or replacement. The supervisor will also perform diagnostic procedures and repairs under supervision, which may include suspension repair and alignment, electrical, brake, and cooling system repairs, as well as painting, mixing, tinting, blending, and welding or fabricating. In this role, the supervisor will be expected to maintain superior customer relations and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. They will delegate shop responsibilities, hold team members accountable, and coordinate daily work duties to ensure smooth operations. The position is based on the second shift, requiring a commitment to regular attendance and adherence to safety regulations established by Penske management, including DOT and OSHA guidelines. The supervisor must also be prepared to travel as necessary and complete all required employment applications and screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate body shop staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Oversee the completion of various repair tasks including cab/sheet metal repair and fiberglass repair.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures and repairs under supervision, including suspension repair and alignment.
  • Maintain superior customer relations and communicate effectively with customers.
  • Delegate shop responsibilities and hold team members accountable for their tasks.
  • Coordinate daily work duties and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of body shop management experience required.
  • At least 3 years of practical body shop experience required.
  • Estimator Certification required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational/technical school preferred.
  • Specialized training and experience in the repair/refinish of all series of truck and trailer.
  • Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade, including welding equipment and paint equipment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Strong written/oral communication, problem solving, and decision making skills are required.

  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior staff members.
