About the position

The Broadcasting & Journalism Teacher (Part Time) role involves planning and facilitating an extracurricular course focused on broadcasting and journalism for students ranging from elementary to high school. The teacher will work under the supervision of the Director of Educational Development to develop a curriculum that includes various topics such as video editing, commentary, and streaming, while also applying these skills in practical projects like a school news team or esports broadcasting program.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate instructional sessions for broadcasting and journalism.
  • Develop a curriculum covering various topics in broadcasting and journalism.
  • Apply course skills to projects such as an internal school news team or esports broadcasting program.
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Educational Development.
  • Model appropriate academic and social behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must possess a bachelor's degree.
  • Extensive teaching and/or tutoring experience is required.
  • Ability to work with students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, academic profiles, and skill levels.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate responsibility, a desire to help others, discretion, and flexibility.
  • Knowledge of basic academic content and skills.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to drive future instruction.
  • Ability to work independently applying critical thinking skills and problem solving.
