About the position

The Bruin Guardian Scholars Academy (BGSA) Case Manager/Program Coordinator at UCLA is responsible for supporting the academic and personal success of current and former high school foster youth. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including DCFS and high school counselors, to provide essential resources and support to students. The position also includes training and supervising student staff and volunteers, managing program administration, and developing evaluation tools to assess program effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with DCFS, high school administration, and community stakeholders to address student needs.
  • Identify and access community resources to help students overcome barriers to success.
  • Train and supervise student staff, volunteers, and mentors.
  • Manage program administration, including monitoring and reporting.
  • Research program vendors and costs, and work with HR and Purchasing staff to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain program records and compile program reports.
  • Assist in developing the program logic model and evaluation measures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, sensitive to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.
  • Knowledge of current issues regarding foster care impacted students.
  • Demonstrated skill in listening, counseling, and referring students to resolve problems.
  • Current knowledge of community services and resources for foster care impacted students.
  • Ability to plan, assess, coordinate, and implement services to enhance students' academic, social, and emotional well-being.
  • Ability to work with high school students to develop strategies for behavior change and coping with difficult situations.
  • Skills in word-processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to multitask and handle changing priorities and conflicting deadlines.
