About the position
The Bus Driver position at Trigg County School District involves safely transporting students to and from school, special events, and field trips. The role requires adherence to time schedules and regulations related to pupil transportation, ensuring the safety and well-being of students during transit. The driver is also responsible for maintaining the bus in good operating condition and managing student behavior while on the bus.
Responsibilities
- Operate a school bus over designated routes in accordance with time schedules.
- Provide safe and efficient transportation for District students to and from school, special events, and field trips.
- Perform daily inspections and operator maintenance of the vehicle.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of physically and mentally handicapped students as necessary.
- Maintain order and discipline among students on the bus following District policies and procedures.
- Interact with parents regarding questions, concerns, and disputes.
- Perform emergency bus evacuation drills as required by Kentucky Administration Regulations.
- Maintain records concerning vehicle maintenance, miles driven, and number of children transported.
- Utilize two-way radio for bus to bus and bus to base communication.
- Perform first aid according to established guidelines and procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid Class A or B CDL with passenger, air brakes, and school bus endorsement.
- Completion of Kentucky School Bus Training.
- Must meet the requirements of a criminal record check(s) as specified by Kentucky State Law.
- Must meet health requirements as specified in the district personnel policy.
