About the position

The Business Analyst for Vegetation Management at FirstEnergy is responsible for overseeing and supporting all finance and analytics related to vegetation management within the company's transmission and distribution operations. This role emphasizes safety, integrity, and performance excellence while fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The analyst will utilize various data analysis tools to drive financial efficiencies and improve operational reliability, ensuring compliance with internal accounting requirements and supporting various program initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety as a core value.
  • Ensure compliance with business activities, processes, and procedures.
  • Support all aspects of the Vegetation Management program with a focus on financial analysis.
  • Develop alternatives and recommendations to improve work processes and financial efficiencies.
  • Gather information for program initiatives, including data mining and analysis.
  • Utilize Microsoft PowerBI, QlikView, and other tools for data reporting and analysis.
  • Investigate and update accounting policies as necessary.
  • Provide corporate support for financial and reliability-related requests.
  • Assist with contract administration and procurement processes.
  • Identify opportunities for financial savings and process improvements.
  • Monitor program performance and provide findings to support change management.
  • Attend meetings and collaborate with stakeholders for program development and implementation.
  • Perform office support for storm restoration activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Conservation, Forestry Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, or related discipline.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, an Associate Degree with 4 years of related work experience, or a High School Diploma (or GED) with 7 or more years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State compliance standards is a plus.
  • Experience in utility vegetation management or related discipline is highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and public speaking.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Federal and State compliance standards.
  • Experience in utility vegetation management or related discipline.
