Position Description Advertised Job Summary The Business & Grants Operations Specialist is a strategic position within the College of Nursing focused on maintaining the continuity and consistency of departmental and post-award operations. This position supports the business, finance, and grants operations for the College of Nursing by providing a wide range of advanced administrative, financial, and business management support functions and training in compliance with University, State, and Federal policies and procedures. This position aids in the execution, support, and monitoring of post-award functions, including budget and administrative management for the college. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor's degree and 1 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business or accounting with financial management principles. Knowledge or ability to learn University personnel, budget and payroll systems, programs and services, and policies and procedures. Thorough knowledge of procurement and supply policies and procedures, data manipulation and applications, and computer innovations. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet is required. Ability to plan, organize, and adhere to University and sponsor policies and procedures. Job Duties Job Duty Responsible for maintaining shadow budgets for the College of Nursing's grant portfolio of internal and external awards. Assists with payroll adjustments, expense adjustments, and cost transfer requests to correct issues. Responsible for follow-up on these items as needed to ensure all expected expenditures are properly posted according to University, State, and Federal policies and procedures. Assists with maintaining and updating business and grant operations internal policies and procedures. Provides support to the College of Nursing Finance and Grants Operations unit on ongoing business and grant projects, managing communication, and other tasks as needed. Serves as the support for administrative and research staff regarding University and State of South Carolina budgetary and financial policies and procedures.
