Business Controls - Associate

About the position

Associate position in the ING Americas ODCR team working closely with process and control owners to advise and ensure the proper implementation of relevant Products and Processes Control Frameworks and activities to mitigate identified risks for reporting to senior management. This role will also require performing SOX controls testing. Additionally, as ODCR team is part of the COO domain, you will support management, all business lines of ING Americas and work closely with our second line of defense Non-Financial Risk department in the identification, assessment, mitigation and reporting of related risks. This position sits within the Products and Processes Experts Team and focuses on the effective and efficient implementation and functioning of the NFR Frameworks throughout all products and processes.

Responsibilities

• Support the monitoring that the IT risk profile of ING Americas remains within its risk appetite by assisting with identifying risks, implementing mitigating measures, maintaining process flows and executing key control activities.
• Support the Director, Products and Processes ODCR, together with Business Management; Line of Business (LoB) functions and 2nd Line of Defense to create awareness and ensure timely implementation of IT risk policies, control standards and mandatory instructions, while limiting the impact on the business.
• Support the facilitation of IT risk assessments and assist with monitoring remediation of gaps related to (new) global IT policies, IT control standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support the timely and proper documentation of IT risks and controls, including implementation and execution of key controls and arrangement of monitoring techniques/activities (e.g. Key/SOX control testing).
• Aid with development of presentations, communication and ad hoc analysis on topics related to Inherent risk.
• Keep up with regulatory and industry developments and trends in risk management.

Requirements

• Possess strong understanding and experience of IT risks and controls.
• Possess knowledge of risk management principles, risk & control frameworks, methodologies and tools within a financial services environment.
• Knowledge of Financial Markets and Corporate Lending process is an advantage.
• Trusted judgement and high work ethic, professional approach with strength of character to follow up on concerns, strong communication and persuasion skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
• Ability to work in a highly demanding work environment, proactive and positive attitude towards problem solving and 'thinking outside the box'.
• Able to build a network of relationships with key stakeholders from Business, Information Risk Management, and other 2nd LOD functions.
