About the position

This position serves as the Population Health data and reporting expert for the applications supported by Essentia Health, including Epic and Enterprise applications. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders to understand analytics needs and translating those into effective analytics solutions. The Business Intelligence Analyst (BIA) will develop design specifications and build reports using various business intelligence tools, focusing on creating actionable data from complex datasets to facilitate decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Population Health Finance & Analytics stakeholders to understand analytics needs.
• Translate analytics needs into effective solutions using business intelligence tools.
• Develop design specifications for reporting.
• Build reports utilizing a variety of business intelligence tools.
• Organize and present quantitative information to facilitate understanding and decision-making.

Requirements

• Foundational understanding of relational data models or application toolset foundations.
• Prior experience with business intelligence tools such as Epic Cogito Suite, SQL, Tableau, or similar.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with data visualizations, data warehousing, and data mining.
• Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) and query tuning/optimization.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and ETL processes.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Tableau or Power BI for data visualization.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in healthcare membership, eligibility, medical claims, and pharmacy claims.
• Familiarity with population health and value-based care contracts.
• Knowledge of healthcare billing, payment, coding, and clinical data.
• Experience with machine learning and AI.
