About The Position

The City of Idaho Falls is accepting applications for a Business Intelligence Analyst I. This position is responsible for many complex technical duties related to the day-to-day operations of the city's ERP software and associated reporting. Responsibilities include installation and maintenance of City Information Technology systems and operations, including software deployment, database maintenance, and reporting tools. This position may be required to take scheduled on-call for the city IT help desk rotating schedule. Starting salary for this position is $32.85 - $35.75 depending on experience. The role requires providing an outstanding level of IT customer service to City Departments and consultants both with call-in, email, and on-site support.

Requirements

  • Completion of two (2) years of technical college studies in computer science, computer programming, or related fields; AND four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in database operations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of database querying and report writing.
  • Understanding of networking (LAN/VLAN) system management concepts and information system management concepts.
  • Familiarity with hardware configurations and capabilities, operating system fundamentals, and data communication concepts.
  • Experience with NetWare/Windows Servers systems, PC operating systems, applications and programs, and networking documentation procedures.
  • Technical writing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft SQL DBA certification.
  • IBM Cognos report writing experience.
  • IBM iSeries knowledge and RPG programming.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding IT customer service to City Departments and consultants via call-in, email, and on-site support.
  • Maintain and support city database operations including ERP software and reporting tools.
  • Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses.
  • Evaluate and improve existing BI systems.
  • Create visualizations and reports for requested projects.
  • Gather feedback from end users about system performance and implement changes as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate systems.
  • Coordinate developers to build and implement technology solutions.
  • Assist in maintaining City Server and related equipment and software.
  • Develop and update technical documentation.
  • Train City users in PC hardware and software and related functions through business critical applications, networking, PowerPoint presentations and other related training activities.
  • Provide after hours on-call support when needed for systems maintenance and/or system outages.
  • Work with web APIs and services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
