About the position

The Business Intelligence Analyst will play a crucial role in interpreting data and reporting to effectively communicate the narrative of our business to users. This position requires the utilization of current data, analytical tools, and user interface applications to interpret information that supports the business needs of internal customers. The analyst will collaborate closely with both internal and external clients to ascertain their information needs and assist them in applying reporting and analytics to inform their business decisions. Preference will be given to candidates who are within intermittent commuting distance to either Harbor Kent or Harbor Corporate Lacey (South Puget Sound, WA), or our Harbor Modesto/Mid Valley, CA offices. The role is predominantly hybrid, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work. In this position, the Business Intelligence Analyst will work with department leaders to establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and methods of reporting that present relevant and actionable data. The analyst will identify complex data patterns and inconsistencies through thorough data analysis and data mining. They will provide input to and interpret business requirements, determining the optimum Business Intelligence (BI) solutions to meet those needs. Additionally, the analyst will identify and investigate inefficient reporting processes, seek out reporting automation opportunities, implement streamlined reporting processes, and ensure data integrity throughout. The role also involves designing, implementing, and maintaining code across development, test, and production environments. The analyst will evaluate the effectiveness of projects, processes, and programs by utilizing analytics to compare results with established baselines. Taking ownership of technical initiatives and driving them to completion is essential. The analyst will be expected to learn, use, and maintain an established set of tools and technologies as necessary, while staying current with Microsoft Azure and SQL Server tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field, or 1-3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree in a large ERP, high volume environment.
  • Ability to present complex technical information clearly to a variety of audiences including executives and non-technical leaders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to apply data and reporting results to business processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Table, Power Query, Power Pivot, and Data Models.
  • Experience with Azure services such as Fabric, Synapse, and Data Factory.
  • Ability to write and maintain reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI.
  • Experience in the Microsoft stack including SQL 2016+, SSIS, SSAS, MDX, and SSRS.
  • Ability to work well within a deadline-oriented development structure.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong technical abilities and a desire to learn new things.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools beyond Power BI.
