About the position

The Business Intelligence Analyst at United Way of Connecticut (UWC) plays a crucial role within the Reporting team, focusing on delivering insightful data solutions that meet the needs of internal clients and project teams. This position is client-facing and requires exceptional communication skills to effectively gather and clarify user requirements, communicate project status, and resolve issues independently. The analyst is expected to contribute to UWC's mission by developing innovative solutions that not only meet but exceed client expectations. In this role, the analyst will identify both spoken and unspoken user requirements and develop solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing and future web and reporting environments. A significant aspect of the job involves designing and developing secure environments that comply with HIPAA and Personal Information Encryption standards to protect sensitive data from breaches. The analyst will also be responsible for submitting all written scripts and codes to the appropriate CVS repositories, adhering to established development standards and protocols. The position requires the ability to create data visuals that effectively communicate meaningful insights and answer business-related questions. Collaboration with software developers is essential to ensure quality assurance of systems and code. The analyst will also engage with both internal and external business partners to identify user requirements, ensuring that the solutions provided are aligned with business needs. The role may involve other duties as assigned, reflecting the dynamic nature of the work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify user requirements and develop innovative solutions to meet those requirements.
  • Develop and integrate code with existing and future web and reporting environments.
  • Design and develop secure encrypted environments that comply with HIPAA and Personal Information Encryption standards.
  • Submit all written scripts and codes to the applicable CVS repositories.
  • Adhere to established development standards and protocols.
  • Create data visuals that convey meaningful messages and answer business needs.
  • Collaborate with software developers to provide system and code Quality Assurance.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external business partners to identify user requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, math, computer science, or an Associate's Degree with 3+ years of experience in SQL programming and data transformation, or 6 years of experience in SQL programming and data transformation.
  • Experience implementing reporting and BI solutions on the Microsoft platform utilizing SSRS, SSIS, and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience with the creation, execution, and automation of ETL processes.
  • Experience implementing custom applications on the Microsoft platform in a hands-on role for small to medium-sized organizations, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL Server, Postgres, and MySQL databases, including DDL and DML syntax differences.
  • Experience working with version control systems.
  • Strong analytic mindset with the ability to decompose complex problems into simpler components.
  • Ability to gather and translate business requirements into solid product specifications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
