About the position

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst at Pacsun plays a crucial role within the IT department, focusing on leveraging enterprise omni-channel and customer data to facilitate informed business decisions. This position is integral to the company's operations, requiring a deep understanding of retail dynamics, sales, and inventory data. The BI Analyst will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data to uncover valuable insights that drive business growth. This includes the development and maintenance of BI dashboards and reports, identifying opportunities for process optimization, and collaborating with various stakeholders to understand their analytical needs. The role demands significant interaction with executives and peers, necessitating adaptability in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and clarity. In a typical day, the BI Analyst will provide business process analysis support on company-wide projects, collaborating with executives and business stakeholders to understand objectives, metrics, and requirements. They will articulate business requirements to IT leadership and cross-functional teams, ensuring clear communication and documentation. The analyst will also respond to trouble tickets, assist end-users in identifying their information needs, and drive improved user productivity through the development of new business processes and systems solutions. Data collection and analysis will be a key focus, identifying trends and patterns that support business growth. The analyst will create and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports, conduct data validation, and manage user training, all while identifying opportunities for process improvements based on data insights. Additionally, the BI Analyst will lead innovation in AI Analytics, collaborating with AI technology providers to integrate AI solutions into the business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide business process analysis support on company-wide projects.
  • Collaborate with executives, business stakeholders, and end users to understand business objectives, metrics, and requirements.
  • Completely understand omni-channel retail business and operations, anticipate data needs, and facilitate solution-seeking processes between business and IT.
  • Articulate business requirement needs to IT leadership, BI team, IT cross-functional teams, and vendors.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to business requirements and processes.
  • Respond to trouble tickets and provide day-to-day support for business systems.
  • Drive improved user productivity through developing and implementing new business processes and systems solutions.
  • Assist end-users in identifying and obtaining information needs from business systems.
  • Collect and analyze data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that will support business growth.
  • Create and maintain data models, dashboards, visualizations, and reports to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Create test plans and test scripts for new systems and processes.
  • Conduct data validation and quality checks, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Manage user training and create user training guides.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and optimization based on data insights.
  • Research and respond to new initiatives and analytical needs.
  • Be the change champion in AI Analytics, leading innovation and co-creating with AI technology providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • Experience using MicroStrategy for business intelligence reporting.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including SQL, Python, Java, and Linux Shell Scripts.
  • Experience with databases such as Snowflake, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Understanding of IT project management, application development, implementation, and testing processes.
  • A minimum of two years of user experience in Retail, Inventory, Planning, Demand Forecast, Price Management, POS, eCommerce, and Customer Data.
  • Excellent analytic skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear and effective documentation.
  • Ability to conduct meetings with business executives, partners, and peers.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the rapidly changing needs of the department and company.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Visio, PowerPoint, and MS Project, with advanced skills in Excel.
