About the position

The Business Manager for the UVM Office of Primary Care (OPC) and Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program is responsible for overseeing business administration, financial management, and collaboration with various stakeholders. This role involves managing UVM funds, external funds, and grant/contract funding sources, ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements, and facilitating personnel management processes. The position serves as a key point of contact for PeopleSoft matters and works closely with office leadership and grant principal investigators.

Responsibilities

  • Provide business administration for the UVM Office of Primary Care (OPC) and Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program.
  • Manage financial analysis and planning, budget development, and fiscal year-end processes.
  • Handle accounts payable and receivables using PeopleSoft.
  • Fulfill federal, state, and foundation grants financial and activity reporting requirements.
  • Assist with budget development and creation of funding proposals in UVMClick for grant applications.
  • Facilitate processes related to personnel management, including new hires and salary distributions.
  • Serve as the point person for OPC and AHEC on PeopleSoft, facilities, and technology matters.
  • Collaborate with office leadership and grant principal investigators.
  • Work closely with UVM Sponsored Project Administration (SPA), Accounting and Procurement Services, and regional AHECs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two to four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective financial management and communication skills.
  • Ability to respond to a wide variety of individuals and their varying needs.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to use discretion regarding confidential/sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education and grant-funded organizations.
  • Understanding of education financing/student loan programs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access, PeopleSoft, UVM financial systems, and fund accounting.
