About the position

The Business Marketing Specialist coordinates and manages all aspects of the technical and business components of proposals for companies being recruited to or expanding in Kansas. Collaborating closely with project managers, the data team, and other Commerce staff, this role ensures that proposals are accurate, comprehensive, adhere to deadlines, and meet or exceed client expectations. The specialist conducts thorough research, writes and edits relevant content, creates visually compelling designs for both print and digital materials, and ensures that website pages reflect accurate and up-to-date information. Additionally, they develop and execute targeted email marketing and social media campaigns aligned with the state's economic development strategic plan, aimed at engaging key sectors and promoting Kansas as an ideal business destination.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and manages all aspects of the technical and business portions of proposals to companies being recruited to or expanding in Kansas.
  • Identifies issues in proposal process, resolves problems, and makes suggestions for improvements in order to enhance the quality of deliverables.
  • Conducts research, writes/edits applicable content, creates compelling designs for both print and digital products, and ensures applicable website pages reflect current, accurate information.
  • Develops and executes email marketing and social media campaigns for various programs and target sectors outlined in the state's economic development strategic plan.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience with demonstrated success in the field of public relations, communications or marketing.
  • Bachelor's degree in strategic communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, public administration or related field.
