About the position

The CAD Designer II at Guitar Center is responsible for producing accurate and timely Construction Document packages, converting sold scopes of work and proposals into AV Facilities & Electrical Infrastructure drawings, and creating AV Functional Wiring Diagrams. This role involves collaboration with Design and Project Engineers to ensure that AV Field Technicians receive clear instructions for installation. The position also includes contributing to the development and maintenance of CAD Standards and participating in relevant meetings.

Responsibilities

• Produce AV Facilities & Electrical drawings for pre-install rough-in with guidance from the project team.
• Create AV Functional Wiring Diagrams for AV Install under project team guidance.
• Contribute to the development of CAD Standards database through block creation and maintenance.
• Attend and contribute to CAD Standards development meetings.
• Participate in internal company kickoff and scheduling meetings, communicating workload and deadlines clearly.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
• 4 years of relevant work experience with Autodesk AutoCAD software.
• Proficient with BIM360 preferred.
• Familiarity with Visio and other drawing platforms.
• Basic proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
• Basic knowledge of large-format plotters, scanners, and printers.
• Basic knowledge of principles of video, audio, and basic networking.
• Ability to interpret and add to architectural facilities drawings.
• Ability to produce and review design documentation, including functional diagrams and user manuals.
• Basic knowledge of basic electrical and power requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AV integration projects.
• Knowledge of industry standards for AV design.
