About the position

The CAD Designer/Technician position at voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation involves utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings and models of parts and assemblies. The role requires collaboration with engineering and shop personnel to ensure accurate documentation and adherence to specifications, while also maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Utilize CAD software to develop controlled part drawings under general supervision.
• Originate detail layouts of parts, components, assemblies, and functional units.
• Create detailed models and drawings from sketches, drawings, and parts.
• Check customer drawings against RFC drawings for accuracy.
• Print and distribute drawings as needed.
• Interface with supervisors and other engineering and shop personnel.
• Follow verbal and written instructions pertaining to assigned jobs.
• Work to a schedule and maintain a clean work area.
• Handle customer file storage and make recommendations for improvements to drawing procedures.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Drafting Design or similar, or a High School Diploma with at least one year of hands-on related experience.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and document processing software such as Meridian or similar.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related technology degree.
• Application experience with Inventor 3D modeling, Finite Element Analysis, and Motion Simulation.
• Experience in roll forming systems design and installation.
• Knowledge of metals, metal forming, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with Quality Systems.
