About the position

Randstad, in partnership with SAM.biz, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil 3D CAD Technician to join their civil engineering team in Elkhart, IN. This permanent position involves working collaboratively with engineers and designers on private land development projects, primarily focusing on commercial and industrial site development. The successful candidate will support both office and field staff by processing incoming information and producing final project deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming field data utilizing SAM standards
• Evaluate the accuracy and sufficiency of data
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry principles under the direction of your supervisor
• Monitor the production and quality assurance of field crews
• Conduct initial quality control (QC) of field deliverables according to standards and best practices
• Coordinate with your supervisor to ensure client-specific demands and expectations are being met
• Maintain clear and effective communication with field and office staff to facilitate project completion
• Work collaboratively with engineers and designers on detailed civil engineering designs for land development projects
• Prepare site development plans, specifications, and cost estimates under the guidance of the Project Manager
• Conduct technical analyses and calculations for civil engineering projects
• Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and other engineering tools to create and review design drawings
• Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards

Requirements

• Minimum of one year of relevant experience required
• Strong computer and technical skills; AutoCAD Civil 3D is required; MicroStation, Revit or similar application is a plus
• Proficiency in technical math; Geometry and Trigonometry are a plus
